EARLY YEARS EDUCATOR

🌱Early Years Educator

As an early years educator, I feel incredibly privileged to play a part in the most formative stage of a child’s life. These early years are not only about learning letters and numbers — they’re about building confidence, nurturing emotional wellbeing, and laying the foundations for lifelong curiosity.

At Precious Little Souls Nursery, I strive to create a space where every child feels:

Safe and seen

Encouraged to explore

Supported in their unique journey

My role goes beyond teaching — it’s about listening, observing, and responding with care. Whether it’s through imaginative play, gentle routines, or meaningful conversations, I aim to foster:

🧠 Cognitive growth through hands-on experiences

💬 Language development through rich interactions

❤️ Emotional resilience through consistent, loving support

🤝 Social skills through shared play and community outings

I also believe in strong partnerships with families. Together, we create a nurturing circle around each child — one that celebrates their strengths and supports their challenges.

Thank you for trusting me with your little one’s early steps. It’s a joy and an honour to walk alongside them.

Warm regards,

Shukura Ama

Early Years Educator

MISS AMA

Hi there,

welcome to my home nursery called Precious Little Souls. Let me tell you a little bit about myself...

I am a vegan and have been for several years now, so the children get to experience eating some of our plant based meals. I meditate often to keep myself grounded and calm. I love reading, collecting crystals and being creative is a passion which reflects in my setting. I run arts & craft sessions on Saturdays during the summer for older children. I am 56 years young a mother of four grown up children and a 12 year old, with eight grandchildren would you believe, I guess they keep me young lol. My authentic knowledge and experience comes from raising my children, but it didn't stop there.

I've always found children's worlds so magical and carefree, so what better profession to enter where you get to play and have fun all day.

This is my second time around I was a childminder well over ten years ago before my last child was born. I missed it so much I decided to return.

I have an NVQ level 3 qualification in childcare along with a Child Practitioners Diploma with Distinction, I have a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate which I refresh yearly.  I have passed courses and been awarded certificates in Child Protection & Safeguarding, and Food Hygiene to mention a few. I am registered with OFSTED.

Since loosing our beloved rabbit one Christmas we finally have a new pet cat called Skylar. I think all children should experience pets as it shows them how to care for animals and brings out their gentle side. Petting a cat in particular is not only therapeutic for the cat but for the children too.

Precious Little Souls prides itself in Providing Loving Service where children can learn through play in a happy and safe enabling environment. I hope when you navigate your way around my website you get lots more information along with the feel of my personality, my passions, and what drives me to participate in your children's lives.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

📘Why Our Policies Matter

Dear Parents and Carers,

At Precious Little Souls Nursery, your child’s safety, wellbeing, and development are at the heart of everything we do. To ensure we provide the highest standard of care, we’ve carefully crafted a set of policies and procedures that guide our daily practice and reflect our values of transparency, inclusivity, and professionalism.

We kindly ask that you take the time to read through these documents thoroughly and become familiar with them.

Here’s why it matters:

🛡️ Safeguarding & Safety: Our policies outline how we protect children and respond to concerns, so you know exactly how we keep your little one safe.

🤝 Partnership with Parents: Understanding our procedures helps us work together smoothly — from settling in to managing allergies or behaviour support.

📚 Consistency & Clarity: When everyone is on the same page, children benefit from a calm, structured environment where expectations are clear.

📲 Easy Access: We’ve made our policies accessible via QR codes and digital formats, so you can refer to them anytime.

If you ever have questions or need clarification, we’re here to help. Your engagement with our policies is a vital part of the nurturing partnership we build with every family.

Warm regards,

Shukura Ama

OUR PEDAGOGY

🌿 Our Pedagogy: A Blend of Montessori & Kindergarten Principles

At Precious Little Souls Nursery, our approach to early education is rooted in a thoughtful blend of Montessori and Kindergarten philosophies — creating a nurturing, purposeful environment where children flourish emotionally, socially, and cognitively.

🧠 Why This Blend Works

By combining the child-led independence of Montessori with the structured, play-based learning of Kindergarten, we offer a balanced experience that supports each child’s unique development.

✨ Montessori Principles We Embrace

Independence & Choice: Children are encouraged to make decisions, care for their environment, and take pride in their growing autonomy.

Hands-On Learning: Carefully selected materials invite exploration, problem-solving, and concentration.

Respect for the Child: We honour each child’s pace, interests, and voice — fostering confidence and self-awareness.

🎨 Kindergarten Influences We Integrate

Play-Based Exploration: Through imaginative play, storytelling, and creative activities, children build language, social skills, and emotional resilience.

Group Learning & Routines: Circle time, shared experiences, and gentle structure help children feel secure and connected.

Holistic Development: We support the whole child — nurturing physical, emotional, and cognitive growth through varied, age-appropriate experiences.

🌈 What This Means for Your Child

Children at Precious Little Souls are free to explore, create, and express themselves — while also learning how to collaborate, follow routines, and prepare for the next stage of their education. Our pedagogy is not one-size-fits-all; it’s a responsive, respectful approach that adapts to each child’s needs and strengths.

We believe that when children feel safe, valued, and inspired, they thrive — and our blended pedagogy is designed to make that happen every day.

Warmly,

Shukura Ama

2 YEAR OLD CHECKS

🧠 The Importance of the Two-Year Progress Check

Dear Parents and Carers,

At Precious Little Souls Nursery, we are committed to supporting every child’s unique journey — and one key milestone in that journey is the Progress Check at Age Two.

This check is a statutory requirement under the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is designed to give a clear picture of your child’s development in the three prime areas:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Physical Development

Communication and Language

🌱 Why It Matters:

Early Identification: The check helps us spot any areas where your child may need extra support — whether short-term or ongoing — so we can act early and sensitively.

Partnership with Parents: It’s a chance to share observations, celebrate progress, and work together to support your child’s learning both at nursery and at home.

Holistic Understanding: By combining insights from everyday activities with your own observations, we build a fuller picture of your child’s strengths and needs.

Smooth Transitions: The check lays the groundwork for future learning and helps ensure your child is ready for the next stage of their development.

We approach this check with care, warmth, and professionalism — always keeping your child’s wellbeing at the centre. You’ll receive a short written summary, and we’ll invite you to discuss it with us so we can plan together for your child’s continued growth.

Warm regards,

Shukura Ama

OUTINGS & TRIPS

🚶‍♀️ Outings & Community Exploration:

At Precious Little Souls Nursery, we believe that learning doesn’t just happen within four walls — it happens in parks, libraries, shops, and on the pavements of our local community. For our little ones under five, these outings are gentle, age-appropriate adventures that spark curiosity, build confidence, and lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

Here’s why our local outings matter:

🌍 Understanding the World Around them

Children begin to make sense of their environment by seeing real-life places — from the post office to the greengrocer — and learning how communities work together.

🤝 Celebrating Diversity & Culture

Through visits to local cultural spaces or community events, children are introduced to the beautiful variety of people, traditions, and languages that make up our world. These early experiences nurture empathy, respect, and open-mindedness.

🧠 Building Knowledge & Language

Outings provide rich opportunities for vocabulary growth, sensory exploration, and meaningful conversations. Whether it’s spotting colours in nature or asking questions about a bus ride, every moment is a learning moment.

💪 Developing Confidence & Social Skills

Being out and about helps children learn how to navigate new environments, follow simple instructions, and interact with others — all in a safe, supported way.

All outings are carefully planned with safety, age-appropriateness, and enjoyment in mind. We always share details in advance and welcome your input and questions. These experiences are not just “trips” — they’re stepping stones in your child’s journey to becoming a confident, curious member of their community.

Warmly,

Shukura Ama

SUMMER CAMP

☀️ Summer Camps at Precious Little Souls

While our nursery focuses on the early years, we’re delighted to offer Summer Camps during school holidays for older children who have outgrown the nursery but still thrive in a nurturing, engaging environment.

These camps are designed to provide a safe, stimulating space where children can enjoy their break while continuing to learn, explore, and build friendships.

🌈 What Our Summer Camps Offer:

Creative Activities: From arts and crafts to imaginative storytelling and themed play, children express themselves freely while building new skills.

Outdoor Adventures: We make the most of the summer weather with nature walks, garden games, and local outings that encourage movement and curiosity.

Cultural Exploration: Through music, food, and stories from around the world, children learn about different cultures in fun, age-appropriate ways.

Social & Emotional Growth: Camps are a great opportunity for children to develop independence, teamwork, and confidence in a relaxed setting.

Our Summer Camps are open to children aged [5years and above], and spaces are limited to ensure each child receives the attention and care they deserve. We maintain the same high standards of safety, inclusivity, and emotional wellbeing that define our nursery.

If you’re interested in enrolling your child or learning more, please speak to me before the summer holidays start.

Warm wishes,

Shukura Ama

The summer club was a clear testament to Precious Little Souls being highly regarded!

Helen & 2yr old son

I was very welcomed at my first visit. I was given all necessary information, I left feeling a sense of comfort with a peace of mind. This service has really over exceeded my expectations. I have seen a lot of positive changes in my son eg. He takes off his coat and shoes whenever he comes home now. I would love to see this service expand, so more families could be supported. Can't really express my gratitude to you and your teams wonderful job.

We build on children's interests

He likes playing with cars, so we build by introducing him to other types of vehicles of the same colours and add sand to the activity. Now he can make marks in the sand using the vehicles, grouping all the same colours together, gripping smaller objects helps fine motor skills so he can grip a pencil  for instance, and mark making helps later with writing.
