Children and parents are greeted everyday with a warm smile. There is a coat and shoe rack for the little ones to access themselves. We have pictures of all the children who attend. It's lovely when they show their parents, 'look that's me.' It gives them a sense of belonging. There's also a board where their work is displayed and an information board for parents also.
Children are given their own colour coordinated plates etc, they can access water throughout the day via the fridge dispenser. Our aim is to make children as independent as possible. All safety appliances and equipment are in place throughout the setting. A first aid box, fire blanket, and fire extinguisher is kept in the kitchen.
The WC is used by the children only. There is a child seat with steps for independent access, hand wash and individual flannels are provided for extra hygiene purposes. Children are also given toothbrushes & toothpaste to brush after meals (as part of the oral health introduced into the EYFS).
This is where the magic happens, the children get to explore, be as messy and creative as they like with everything at their disposal on their level for easy access.
We have a great outdoor space the children spend hours out here running, jumping, climbing, sliding, and riding, fine tuning their gross motor skills balance, coordination, spatial awareness and muscle strength.
We have a lovely adorable female cat called Skylar. Sometimes she comes downstairs to say Meow to the children.
In the pond there's cascading water, a pump that transports water around wheels that turn and a bucket when full empties itself. Added to that there are squirty animals, a lily pad, plastic bottles, funnels, a sieve etc to add to the fun and excitement whilst developing their fine and gross motor skills.
I love the sandpit myself I've been known to take my shoes off and play in the sand with the children. A brilliant fine motor skill activity with spades, rakes, cups, sieve, brushes, buckets, spoons, sea animal moulds. Very therapeutic!
This is a great activity for balance, coordination and spatial awareness. I help to build this from scratch. It was a labour of love especially to see the children's faces when they saw it for the first time. We also have a smaller slide for the younger children.
I have been collecting books since my first child was born, she still loves to read. I can see a love for books in this little one too, she often sits quietly gazing through the books.
I read to the children every day using props like hand puppets and funny voices. The children love story time, I love the way they interact with the stories too.
Our setting has a vast range of toys, equipment, and resources available, we continue to receive donations from friends and family which is such a great gift which we are grateful for. These children are playing with play dough showing the skill of eye to hand coordination.
The play kitchen seems to be everyone's favourite they really cook up a storm. I've introduced real food in the kitchen so the children get an authentic experience.

He always wants to dress up as a policeman and arrest everybody. Do you think when he grows up he'll make a terrific police officer? I do.
look at that smile!
Another topic I wanted the children to learn was how plants and things we eat grow. The children had watercress seeds, which they sprinkled on cotton wool then watered. We then covered them up to aid germination. A few days later they began to sprout. After several days later the children got to sample what they grew. Some liked the taste others didn't.
We went on a teddy bear picnic. The children brought their teddy or their favourite toy along, teddies were snacking with us on that lovely hot sunny day too. They must have been so hot in their fur coats!
This was a trip to Willesden Library's Museum. We learnt loads of information about our local area past and present. The children got to make their mark on a wall of chalk boards in the shape of sign posts.
Hiya, just wanted to take time out to say a massive thank you for the past 2 weeks! I don't think I've seen the boys this excited every single morning of this week. They literally get up and are so excited and literally bouncing around until they get to you. You literally thought of each and everyday so carefully and precisely, and really went above and beyond for the children, and it really shows! From the fun packed daily activities, to the food they ate. And to make sure they are just well individually in general, isn't an easy task! but you made it happen, They had the best 2 weeks ever! This was definitely the highlight of their summer holidays. We can't wait until next year.

This is one of her favourite activities. It's not just stacking cups, she's learning eye to hand coordination, using fine motor skills (fingers & hands), different colours. As she gets older she will know the names of the colours, know how many cups by being able to count them and more!
